The Friendly Triathlon heads for Beverley.

Beverley Leisure Complex will be the venue for the final pool-based event of the Yorkshire 2012 triathlon season.

The Beverley triathlon – dubbed “the friendly triathlon” by past competitors –starts with a 400 metre swim in the leisure centre’s state-of-the-art eight-lane competition pool followed by a 20km bike ride and finishing with a 5km run.

Previous events have proved very popular amongst novice or new triathletes, according to organisers.

Paul Mathieson, of Freebird Events of York, said: “The event is also ideally suited to the experienced athlete and has seen some remarkable performances over the event’s three-year history.”

Following the 400m swim, the scenic one-lap 5km bike course takes in the country roads around Beverley, and the run utilises the roads and paths around the leisure centre to complete the final discipline of the event.

The event takes place on Sunday August, 26, at 8.30am, Beverley Leisure Complex, Flemingate, Beverley.
